High Blood pressure, also known as Hypertension, is blood pressure that is higher than normal. Blood pressure changes throughout the day based on one’s activities. Having blood pressure measures consistently above normal may result in a diagnosis of high blood pressure (or hypertension). The higher your blood pressure levels, the more risk one has for many health problems affecting the Heart.
The most common causes of hypertension include smoking, obesity or being overweight, diabetes, having a sedentary lifestyle, lack of physical activity, high salt or alcohol intake levels, insufficient consumption of calcium, potassium or magnesium, a deficiency in vitamin D, stress, aging, chronic kidney disease and many lifestyle causes.
